Who this is for
This track serves three kinds of ambition. The builder: you want a personal portfolio, a business site, or a family project online — built by your own hands, not rented from a template factory. The career-starter: you want employable web skills with real deployments to show, because “I did a course” impresses no one while “here’s my live site” always does. The business owner: you’re tired of depending on someone else for every small website change, and want enough command of the machine to be dangerous — editing content, understanding hosting, making informed decisions.
What all three get is the same thing: my full stack of experience, taught through doing. This isn’t a lecture series with a quiz at the end. It’s an apprenticeship where you plan, build, deploy and maintain a real website — because that’s precisely how I learned, shipping Handy Tools with my brother, and it remains the only method I trust.
What we cover
Web development — HTML, CSS & JavaScript
The eternal trio: structure, style and behaviour. Taught to a professional standard — semantic markup, responsive layouts, clean interactivity — the same stack this very portfolio is built on.
Git & GitHub
Version control: save-points for your work, the ability to experiment fearlessly, and the collaboration workflow every professional team assumes. (I also wrote a friendly beginner article on it — have a read to feel my teaching style.)
Hosting, domains & deployment
The invisible half of the web: buying and connecting domains, deploying static sites to Cloudflare Pages and Vercel, HTTPS, caching, headers — everything between “finished coding” and “the whole planet can visit it”.
Client–server concepts
What actually happens when someone visits your site — the request journey, front-end vs back-end, APIs, and how the pieces talk. The mental model that turns a template-tweaker into an actual web developer.
WordPress
The world’s most popular website platform: themes, plugins, content structures, and when WordPress is the right tool versus a hand-built site. Practical, judgement-first training.
How it works
Why learn this with me
Because everything I teach, I have shipped. This portfolio — hand-written HTML, CSS and JavaScript, deployed on modern hosting with proper security headers — is lesson zero. Handy Tools, six utilities built with my brother and used by real people, is the case study we’ll dissect together. My certifications in HTML, CSS and JavaScript cover the theory; my products prove the practice. You’ll learn the exact workflow I use daily — the same editor, the same deployment path, the same standards — minus the years of detours it took me to find it.
Common questions
Do I need to buy anything — domains, hosting?
Not to start. Modern platforms like Cloudflare Pages and Vercel host static sites free — I’ll teach you on free tiers first. When you’re ready for a custom domain, it’s a small, optional yearly cost that we’ll discuss openly.
I want a website FOR my business, not to learn to build one.
Then you want the other half of my work — I build sites for clients too. Book the same consultation; we’ll scope your project, and I’ll honestly tell you what it needs. Either way, you leave the session with clarity.
WordPress or code — which will you teach me?
Whichever serves your goal — that’s exactly what the consultation decides. Quick content site you’ll edit yourself? WordPress often wins. Custom design, speed, full control, and a career skill? Hand-coding wins. Many students learn both and use each where it fits.
